Sammanfattning : The conventional view on the Kalahari in southern Africa expresses that the area is unsuitable for livestock herding. For this reason, it is argued that livestock herders avoided the Kalahari in the past and were only able to establish themselves in the later half of the twentieth century, when deep-reaching boreholes were introduced in the area. The project adopts the garage and the penthouse as sites of enquiry, which means thinking through architecture as a cultural phenomenon, the agency of which includes but is not limited to spatial design, material compositions, visual representations, and historical contexts. 3. Nothing more to see : Contestations of belonging and visibility in Russian media
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the role of visibility in the production and contestation of belonging to political communities. On the basis of an empirical enquiry of Russian media during the 2010s, a theoretical conceptualization of the relation between visibility and belonging is suggested, starting in the idea that what becomes visible to publics and how, and what is rendered invisible, are the objects of constant political regulation and contestation.
