1. Numerical modelling of swirling drying flow
Sammanfattning : Waste hydrochloric acid (HCl) from the pickling process at SSAB EMEA in Borl¨ange, Sweden, is regenerated using a technique called spray roasting where waste HCl is sprayed into a hot reactor through four spray nozzles at the top of the reactor. The regeneration (drying) process is driven by four natural gas burners placed symmetrically along the periphery of the reactor and causes the water in the waste acid droplets to evaporate. LÄS MER
2. Towards better understanding of the flow inside industrial processes: a CFD study
Sammanfattning : Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a method to numerically pre- dict flow patterns. In this thesis the method is used to predict the flow in a hydrochloric acid regeneration plant located at SSAB EMEA in Borl ̈ange and to investigate the flow in a burner region of a rotary kiln at LKAB in Kiruna. 3. Comeback Detroit : The return of whites and wealth to a Black city
Sammanfattning : Since the 1950s, the city of Detroit has declined in terms of demography and economic prosperity. Once among the wealthiest and largest cities of America, Detroit now continually ranks as one of nations poorest, Blackest and most abandoned urban areas. LÄS MER
4. Intelligent data acquisition for drug design through combinatorial library design
Sammanfattning : A problem that occurs in machine learning methods for drug discovery is a need for standardized data. Methods and interest exist for producing new data but due to material and budget constraints it is desirable that each iteration of producing data is as efficient as possible. LÄS MER
5. Core-hole Clock Spectroscopy Using Hard X-rays : Exciting States in Condensed Matter
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about how electrons move from one place to another, that is charge transfer dynamics. Charge transfer dynamics is an important property governing chemical and physical changes that form the base for many applications such as electronics, optoelectronics and catalysis. LÄS MER
