  1. 16. The Prevalence of Radioactivity in a Number of Non-Nuclear Industries

    Författare :Torbjörn Gäfvert; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; zircon; ceramics industry; thorium; TIG welding; waterworks; calcium chloride; dicalcium phosphate; phosphate industry; non-nuclear industries; TENORM; Natural radioactivity; NORM;

    Sammanfattning : Four different non-nuclear industries have been investigated regarding the presence of radioactive elements, with the focus on natural radioactivity. The aim of the studies was to investigate the flow of radionuclides in the processes and/or to estimate doses to exposed workers. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Structural integrity of prestressed nuclear reactor containments

    Författare :Patrick Anderson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel liner; reliability; relaxation; shrinkage; creep; loss of prestress; tendon; Nuclear; containment; design pressure; Construction technology; Anläggningsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A nuclear power plant is provided with an extensive defense intended to prevent radioactive discharge in case of a reactor accident. This defense is built up of several independent safety barriers, where the reactor containment constitutes the last barrier to the environment. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Anti-nuclear Movements in Discursive and Political Contexts : Between Expert Voices and Local Protests

    Författare :Ekaterina Tarasova; Mai-Brith Schartau; Björn Hassler; Marta Reuter; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; social movements; nuclear energy; discourse; action repertoires; protests; Nuclear Renaissance; Russia; Poland; Sweden; Politics; Economy and the Organization of Society; Politik; ekonomi och samhällets organisering; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Energy policies which maintain and extend nuclear energy are often opposed by anti-nuclear movements. Ambitious plans for developing nuclear energy in Russia, constructing a first nuclear plant in Poland, and lifting the ban on nuclear energy while allowing the replacement of old reactors in Sweden are examples of such energy policies. 4. 19. Segmented HPGe detectors for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel : Design and demonstration in gamma emission tomography

    Författare :Vikram Rathore; Peter Andersson; Erik Andersson Sundén; Ane Håkansson; Andrew Boston; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Segmented HPGe detector; Nuclear fuel; Post-irradiation examination; Nuclear fuel diagnostics; Gamma emission tomography; Gamma spectroscopy; Non-destructive fuel testing; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gamma emission tomography (GET) is a proven non-invasive technique for post-irradiation examination of nuclear fuel. In the past, collimated HPGe detectors were used for GET measurements due to their good energy resolution. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission

    Författare :Zhihao Gao; Andreas Solders; Ali Al-Adili; Mattias Lantz; Stephan Pomp; Olivier Serot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear fission; isomeric yield ratio; angular momentum; independent fission yield; ion guide; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems.
