1. Retroviral gene transfer to repopulating hematopoietic cells
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) have the capacity to maintain hematopoiesis throughout life. HSCs are ideal targets for permanent gene transfer, as the transgene will be expressed in all the progeny of the gene-modified stem cells. LÄS MER
2. Development of Gene Therapy for Hematopoietic Stem Cells using Lentiviral Vectors
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells are an ideal target for genetic manipulation for the purpose of curing hematological disorders as they have the ability to develop into all blood lineages and to self-renew. In this study we demonstrate that lentiviral vectors, based on HIV-1, can efficiently transfer genes into human hematopoietic progenitor and stem cells as assessed following stem cell transplantation in immune compromised mice. 3. Development of new approaches for tumor suppressor genes identification
Sammanfattning : Development of tumor is a complex process involving multiple steps. New technologies for cloning and identifying genes playing critical role in cancer development are necessary. That is why we have focused our research on development of these approaches. LÄS MER
4. Estrogens and lymphoma growth
Sammanfattning : Lymphomas are generally not considered as endocrine-associated cancers. Nevertheless, most lymphoid malignancies show a gender differencein incidence and prognosis, with males being more affected. The molecular mechanism for this gender difference is unknown. LÄS MER
5. Development of Adenoviral Vectors for Studying Hematopoietic Stem Cell Function
Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are defined by their capacity to self-renew and differentiate into all hematopoietic cell lineages. Postnatally, HSCs reside predominantly in the bone marrow and are relatively rare, but important cells because of their therapeutic potential in bone marrow transplantation protocols and in their involvement in the origin of certain leukemias.
