  1. 16. Atomic Scale Degradation of Zirconium Alloys for Nuclear Applications

    Författare :Gustav Sundell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Irradiation damage; Hydrogen microanalysis; Hydrogen pick-up; Zirconium alloys; Atom probe tomography; Corrosion;

    Sammanfattning : Due to their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry as fuel cladding and for structural components. The lifetime of the fuel assemblies in the reactors is primarily dictated by the ability of the cladding to withstand oxidation and hydrogen pick-up from the coolant water and radiation damage induced by the neutron flux. 2. 17. Study of novel electronic materials by mid-infrared and terahertz optical Hall effect

    Författare :Nerijus Armakavicius; Vanya Darakchieva; Philipp Kühne; Mircea Modreanu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Development of silicon based electronics have revolutionized our every day life during the last three decades. Nowadays Si based devices operate close to their theoretical limits that is becoming a bottleneck for further progress. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Development and applications of theoretical algorithms for simulations of materials at extreme conditions

    Författare :Igor Mosyagin; Igor Abrikosov; Sergey Simak; Andrei Postnikov; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Materials at extreme conditions exhibit properties that differ substantially from ambient conditions. High pressure and high temperature expose anharmonic, non-linear behavior, and can provoke phase transitions among other effects. Experimental setups to study that sort of effects are typically costly and experiments themselves are laborious. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Transmission Electron Microscopy for Characterization of Structures, Interfaces and Magnetic Moments in Magnetic Thin Films and Multilayers

    Författare :Hans Lidbaum; Klaus Leifer; Peter Svedlindh; Josef Zweck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transmission electron microscopy; TEM; magnetism; multilayer; superlattice; thin films; amorphous metals; electron energy-loss magnetic circular dichroism; EMCD; electron diffraction; Magnetism; Magnetism; Surfaces and interfaces; Ytor och mellanytor; Physics; Fysik; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik; Materiefysik; Physics of Matter;

    Sammanfattning : Structural characterization is essential for the understanding of the magnetic properties of thin films and multilayers. In this thesis, both crystalline and amorphous thin films and multilayers were analyzed utilizing transmission electron microscopy (TEM). LÄS MER
