  1. 16. Increased resilience in managed boreal forests : Controlling damage by spruce bark beetle and moose in Sweden

    Författare :Matilda Lindmark; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Erika Wallin; Jan-Olov Weslien; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Most of the forests growing in Europe today have been planted, or heavily affected, by humans. This is because the forest industry provides crucial raw materials for diverse products, including timber, pulp and paper, cellulose-based substances and renewable energy sources. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Biochemical Interactions of Some Saproxylic Fungi

    Författare :Joel Ljunggren; Bengt Gunnar Jonsson; Erik Hedenström; Dan Bylund; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biologically active compounds; bioactive; fungi-fungi interaction; fungi co-culture; extracellular amino acids.;

    Sammanfattning : Interactions are all around us, and as humans we may use words and gestures to communicate our intentions. At the micro level of fungi, communications are replaced by chemical signals and structure. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Description of spatial and temporal distributions of epiphytic lichens

    Författare :Håkan Lättman; Per Milberg; Bengt Gunnar Jonsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; centroid; continuity; lichen; movement; range shift; direction; dispersal; ecological continuity; establishment; global change; global warming; habitat availability; håkan lättman; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lichens are, in most cases, sensitive to anthropogenic factors such as air pollution, global warming, forestry and fragmentation. Two studies are included in this thesis. The first is an evaluation of the importance of old oak for the rare epiphytic lichen Cliostomum corrugatum (Ach.) Fr. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Dispersal of bryophytes across landscapes

    Författare :Niklas Lönnell; Kristoffer Hylander; Bengt Gunnar Jonsson; Sebastian Sundberg; Johan Ehrlén; Risto Virtanen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anemochory; bryophytes; colonization; connectivity; diaspores; dispersal kernel; establishment; spore dispersal; long-distance dispersal; mechanistic model; mosses; realized dispersal; spore release; Lagrangian stochastic model; wind dispersal; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Dispersal, especially long-distance dispersal, is an important component in many disciplines within biology. Many species are passively dispersed by wind, not least spore-dispersed organisms.In this thesis I investigated the dispersal capacity of bryophytes by studying the colonization patterns from local scales (100 m) to landscape scales (20 km). 5. 20. On the investigation of chemical parameters reflecting microbial activity linked to nutrient availability in forest soil

    Författare :Madelen Olofsson; Dan Bylund; Bengt-Gunnar Jonsson; Bjarne W. Strobel; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boreal forest; electrospray ionization; fungal biomass; hydrophilic interaction chromatography; hydroxamate siderophores; liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry; mineral amendment; aromatic acids; podzol soil;

    Sammanfattning : As agrarian society developed, the most fertile soils able to sustain the nutritional requirements needed for high crop yield were assigned to farming, while the more penurious soils were left to uphold the forest ecosystems. Some temperate forests are developed on acidic soils considered to be nutrient poor, as much of the inorganic nutrients are entrapped in poorly weatherable soil minerals and not easily accessed by plant roots.
