  1. 1. Arsenic accumulation in plants for food and phytoremediation : Influence by external factors

    Författare :Claes Bergqvist; Maria Greger; Sylvia Lindberg; Lena Ma; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arsenic; accumulation; availability; distribution; habitat; phy-toremediation; rhizosphere; redox potential; speciation; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Arsenic (As) appears in the environment as various As species, which may vary in plant uptake and toxicity. Moreover, As exposure may vary between habitat due to availability and speciation, both of which are influenced by redox potential. To decrease As uptake, addition of silicate may be a tool. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Spatial Modelling of Coastal Fish – Methods and Applications

    Författare :Göran Sundblad; Ulf Bergström; Alfred Sandström; Peter Eklöv; Christian Möllmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; habitat; niche; species distribution modelling; juvenile; fish; larvae; spawning; Marine ecology; Marin ekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi; Biology; Biologi; Biology with specialization in Limnology; Biologi med inriktning mot limnologi; Biologi med inriktning mot zooekologi; Biology with specialization in Animal Ecology; Limnologi; Limnology;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental factors influence species and habitats on multiple scales creating a mosaic of distribution patterns. Studying factors shaping these patterns are central to our understanding of population dynamics and ultimately ecosystem functioning. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Semi-natural grasslands: landscape, history and plant species diversity

    Författare :Lotten Jönsson; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerial photographs; Land-use history; cadastral maps; habitat continuity; fragmentation; landscape context; habitat connectivity;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the impact of past and present landscape and habitat structure on present levels of vascular plant species diversity within fragmented semi-natural grasslands. Within the Jordtorp-area, a mosaic agricultural landscape on the island of Öland (Sweden), historical land-use changes and the development of semi-natural grasslands was characterized, over a time-period of almost 300 years, using historical maps, aerial photographs and a high-resolution imagery. 4. 4. Grassland restoration : Connectivity, plant community change and cows

    Författare :Rozália E. Kapás; Sara Cousins; Adam Kimberley; Lars A. Brudvig; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; biodiversity; colonization; connectivity; dispersal; distance to species pool; diversity; grassland restoration; grassland specialist species; grazing livestock; habitat availability; plant community composition; restoration; semi-natural grassland; species richness; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : The ecological significance of semi-natural grasslands is high because these habitats provide a home for a diverse flora and fauna and support a range of associated ecosystem services. Due to large-scale land-use changes the extent of grassland habitat has declined. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Description of spatial and temporal distributions of epiphytic lichens

    Författare :Håkan Lättman; Per Milberg; Bengt Gunnar Jonsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; centroid; continuity; lichen; movement; range shift; direction; dispersal; ecological continuity; establishment; global change; global warming; habitat availability; håkan lättman; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lichens are, in most cases, sensitive to anthropogenic factors such as air pollution, global warming, forestry and fragmentation. Two studies are included in this thesis. The first is an evaluation of the importance of old oak for the rare epiphytic lichen Cliostomum corrugatum (Ach.) Fr. LÄS MER
