Sammanfattning : The purposes of this thesis were to investigate the importance of genetic and environmental factors in the development of adverse pregnancy outcomes and to investigate the role of schizophrenia as a risk factor for and a consequence of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Sammanfattning : SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is defined as an infant who has died suddenly and its cause "remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history". An infant who during sleep has been found apneic, pale or cyanotic and limp, and has required either vigorous stimulation or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is defined to have been affected of an Apparent Life Threatening Event (ALTE).
