  1. 21. A study of turbulence and scalar mixing in a wall-jet using direct numerical simulation

    Författare :Daniel Ahlman; Arne V. Johansson; Lars-Erik Eriksson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningmekanik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Direct numerical simulation is used to study the dynamics and mixing in a turbulent plane wall-jet. The investigation is undertaken in order to extend the knowledge base of the influence of the wall on turbulent dynamics and mixing. The mixing statistics produced can also be used to evaluate and develop models for mixing and combustion. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Isotropic and Anisotropic P and S Velocities of the Baltic Shield Mantle : Results from Analyses of Teleseismic Body Waves

    Författare :Tuna Eken; Roland Roberts; Uli Achauer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; teleseismic tomography; mantle lithosphere; seismic anisotropy; teleseismic earthquakes; shear wave splitting; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Geophysics Specialized In Seismology; geofysik; med inriktning mot seismologi;

    Sammanfattning : The upper mantle structure of Swedish part of Baltic Shield with its isotropic and anisotropic seismic velocity characteristics is investigated using telesesismic body waves (i.e. P waves and shear waves) recorded by the Swedish National Seismological Network (SNSN). LÄS MER

  3. 23. Detailed Numerical Simulations of Turbulent Premixed Flames at Moderate and High Karlovitz Numbers

    Författare :Henning Carlsson; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Direct numerical simulation; Large eddy simulation; Turbulent premixed combustion; Flow-flame interaction; High Karlovitz number;

    Sammanfattning : In generally accepted and applied flamelet combustion models, a turbulent flame is mainly assumed distorted by the large-scale turbulence eddies, whereas small-scale turbulence effects on the local flamelet structures are neglected. However, in a lot of industrial applications rather high turbulent intensities are often imposed, which induce turbulence scales at ranges smaller than the flame thickness. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Numerical Investigation of Rotating and Stratified Turbulence

    Författare :Enrico Deusebio; Erik Lindborg; Johan Nilsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geostrophic turbulence; stable stratification; rotation; wall-bounded turbulence; gravity waves; atmospherical dynamics; direct numertical simulations; SRA - E-Science SeRC ; SRA - E-vetenskap SeRC ;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric and oceanic flows are strongly affected by rotation and stratification. Rotation is exerted through Coriolis forces which mainly act in horizontal planes whereas stratification largely affects the motion along the vertical direction through buoyancy forces, the latters related to the vertical variation of the fluid density. 5. 25. Direct and indirect mechanisms for aryl hydrocarbon receptor activation mediated by 6-formylindolo[3,2-b]carbazole

    Författare :Emma Wincent; Ulf Rannug; Agneta Rannug; Christopher Bradfield; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Toxicology; Toxikologi; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is mostly recognized for mediating the adverse effects of dioxins. In addition, endogenous activation of the AhR seems to have important biological functions.  Several studies have demonstrated an activation of the receptor when no exogenous ligand was added. LÄS MER
