21. MRI Contrast Enhancement using Gd2O3 Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : There is an increasing interest for nanomaterials in biomedical applications and in this work, nanoparticles of gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) have been investigated as a novel contrast agent for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Relaxation properties have been studied in aqueous solutions as well as in cell culture medium and the nanoparticles have been explored as cell labeling agents. LÄS MER

23. Radionuclide targeting with particular empahsis on urinary bladder carcinoma
Sammanfattning : The incidence of urinary bladder carcinoma is increasing and many patients die every year of this disease despite assumed radical therapy. Thus, there is a need for improved methods of diagnosis and therapy. LÄS MER
24. Magnetic resonance imaging for the assessment of liver function
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents dynamic hepatocyte-specific contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DHCE-MRI) as a new method for total and segmental liver function assessment. The method is based on the hepatocyte-specific properties of Gd- EOB-DTPA, which is actively taken up into functioning hepatocytes. LÄS MER
25. Tomographic ventilation-perfusion lung scintigraphy in cardiopulmonary disease
Sammanfattning : Respiration relies, among other things, on the balance between regional ventilation and perfusion in the lungs. There are many cardiopulmonary diseases, such as pulmonary embolism (PE), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and left heart failure (LHF), which can affect respiration negatively. LÄS MER
