1. CFD Modelling of Hydrogen Rich Biomass Syngas Combustion
Sammanfattning : The loss of biodiversity, due to pollution and global warming, is more important and relevant now than it has ever been. Man made climate warming has its roots in the huge amount of CH4 and CO2 emissions, which have increased by 47% and 156% respectively since 1750. LÄS MER
2. Synthesis of Transition Metal Aluminides from Elemental Powder Mixtures
Sammanfattning : Structural components such as those used in gas turbines for energy conversion applications, are subjected to high loads at elevated temperatures. In order to ensure that the components survive under these conditions for a sufficiently long time, it is imperative to select materials with good high temperature properties like strength and corrosion resistance. 3. Metal Oxide Nanoparticles for Contrast Enhancement in Magnetic Resonance Imaging : Synthesis, Functionalization and Characterization
Sammanfattning : This thesis work focuses on the design and production of nanoparticle based contrast agents for signal enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Three different synthesis routes are explored, primarily to produce crystalline gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) nanoparticles, and surface modification is done to obtain stable, dispersible, biocompatible probes inducing high proton relaxivities. 4. Imine/azo-linked microporous organic polymers : Design, synthesis and applications
Sammanfattning : Microporous organic polymers (MOPs) are porous materials. Owing to their high surface area, tunable pore sizes and high physicochemical stability, they are studied for applications including gas capture and separation and heterogeneous catalysis. In this thesis, a series of imine/azo-linked MOPs were synthesized. LÄS MER
5. Synthesis and functionalization of zeolites for NH3-SCR applications
Sammanfattning : In the strive towards decreasing carbon dioxide emissions from the growing transport sector, the interest for more fuel-efficient combustion engines operating under lean (oxygen excess) conditions has increased. The combustion products, however, formed in such engines contribute considerably to air pollution. LÄS MER
