  1. 1. Elements of the Asia Pacific gas market : market power and efficiency

    Författare :Bo Jonsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : Natural gas trade in the Asian Pacific market is heavily dependent on the demand from Japan, which imports around 75% of the gas traded as LNG (liquefied natural gas) in the region. This study argues that the buyers in Japan, through cooperation have the potential to exert the market power that their large market share provides them with. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evaluating and optimizing surveillance and response strategies for malaria elimination in the Asia Pacific region

    Författare :Chris Cotter; Andreas Mårtensson; Arantxa Roca-Feltrer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; malaria elimination; surveillance and response; reactive case detection; sociobehavorial; reactive drug administration; molecular diagnostics; microsatellite genotyping; Plasmodium vivax; low transmission;

    Sammanfattning : Malaria case investigation and reactive case detection (RACD) activities are widely implemented in low transmission settings to identify additional malaria infections and gather surveillance information, but with varying degrees of success. Challenges in conducting RACD include poor diagnostic sensitivity (particularly for low density and asymptomatic infections), knowledge gaps among those conducting RACD, financial and resource constraints, and operational and logistical difficulties. 4. 4. Impact of Climate Change on Extreme Events: Insights from Asia and Scandinavia

    Författare :Dong An; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; extreme events; precipitation extremes; droughts; climate variability; ENSO; climate model; climate projection; the Asia-Pacific region; scandinavia;

    Sammanfattning : As climate has warmed significantly over past decades, numerous studies have confirmed a pattern of more frequent and more intense hydro-climate events across the globe, such as floods, heatwaves, and droughts. Analyzing the variability of climate events with reliable historical data records is one of the most direct approaches for understanding its patterns of change. LÄS MER

  5. 5. HIV trends, risk behaviours, social structural barriers and retention in HIV care among key populations in Nepal and the Asia-Pacific region

    Författare :Keshab Deuba; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Condom use behaviour;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The HIV epidemic in the Asia-Pacific region is characterised by a number of concentrated, and in some geographical areas, growing epidemics, particularly among key populations [men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender (TG), female sex workers (FSW), and people who inject drugs (PWID)]. Some countries in the region have been particularly successful in reducing the incidence rate, but other countries in the region have experienced opposite scenarios. LÄS MER
