  1. 11. A Changing Arctic Climate : Science and Policy in the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment

    Författare :Annika E. Nilsson; Björn-Ola Linnér; Sofie Storbjörk; Oran R. Young; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Arctic; climate; framing; knowledge production; regime; institution; actor network; co-production; indigenous knowledge; Arktis; klimat; kunskapsproduktion; regim; institution; aktörsnätverk; traditionell kunskap; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change has often been framed as a global issue but slow progress in the global climate negotiations and an increasing need to plan for local adaptation have made it increasingly salient to also discuss the potential of other arenas for climate policy and knowledge production. This dissertation analyzes the interplay between science and policy at the international regional level based on a study of an assessment of the impacts of climate change in the Arctic. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Applications of Four-Colour Fluorescent Primer Extension Technology for SNP Analysis and Discovery

    Författare :Annika Ahlford; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Mats Nilsson; David Schwartz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Single nucleotide polymorphism; Genotyping; Massively parallel sequencing; Gene mapping; Lab-on-a-chip; Medical genetics; Medicinsk genetik; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Studies on genetic variation can reveal effects on traits and disease, both in humans and in model organisms. Good technology for the analysis of DNA sequence variations is critical. Currently the development towards assays for large-scale and parallel DNA sequencing and genotyping is progressing rapidly. 3. 13. Interferon-alpha based treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma : Effect of immune parameters of importance for monitoring immunotherapy

    Författare :Annika Håkansson; Sten Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Cutaneous malignant melanoma is a rapidly increasing disease. Most patients are cured by surgical excision of their primary tumour, but for patients with metastatic disease the prognosis is still very poor despite various attempts with chemotherapeutic agents, and during the last decade with immunotherapy, using several different biological agents alone or in combination. 4. 14. Inflammatory Mediators and Enterovirus Infections in Human Islets of Langerhans

    Författare :Annika Moëll; Gun Frisk; Olle Korsgren; Bo Nilsson; Outi Vaarala; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; diabetes; islets of Langerhans; enterovirus; inflammatory mediators; cytokines; nicotinamide; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is due to a selective loss of the insulin producing β-cells. However, the process responsible for this loss is still unknown. There is accumulating evidence that enteroviruses (EVs) are involved in T1D. In addition to direct virus-induced cytolysis, EVs could facilitate β-cell destruction by inducing inflammatory cytokines. 5. 15. Analysis of Two Transcriptional Regulators that Affect Meristem Function : Arabidopsis thaliana TERMINAL FLOWER2 and Picea abies APETELA2

    Författare :Lars Nilsson; Annika Sundås Larsson; Peter Engström; Thomas Laux; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Developmental biology; Arabidopsis thaliana; Picea abies; gene regulation; development; meristem; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aerial plant body is derived from undifferentiated cells in the shoot apical meristem that in Arabidopsis thaliana is active throughout the plant life cycle. Upon transition to flowering the activity of the meristem is altered and the meristem starts to produce secondary inflorescences and floral meristems instead of leaves. LÄS MER
