16. Communicating long-span timber structures with 3D computer visualization
Sammanfattning : One of the reasons for the low amount of timber in construction is a general lack of knowledge about timber engineering and how timber can be used to its full advantage. In this thesis the focus is 3D computer visualisation (3D VIZ) of non-residential long-span timber structures, used for storage, industry and sports where 3D VIZ is defined as a process where a 3D-model is enhanced with environmental information e. 17. Volume imaging of the abdomen : three-dimensional visualisation of tubular structures in the body with CT and MRI
Sammanfattning : The overwhelming amount of image-based information in modem medicine makes it crucial to develop methods to handle and analyze images and make them comprehensible for users. The aim of this thesis was to study the radiological practice of three-dimensional (3D) visualization of tubular structures in the body with CT and MRI. LÄS MER
18. Small town, big move : Constructions of place in transiting mining communities
Sammanfattning : The dissertation accounts for construction of place in mining communities as they undergo a major urban transformation. In the 2010s, urban centres in the northern Sweden mining communities of Gällivare and Kiruna entered a new execution phase of a large-scale transformation precipitated by ground subsidence caused by mining activities, a transformation that continues. 19. Computer Vision Using Rich Features - Geometry and Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis a number of computer vision problems is discussed, in particular we study the problem of view synthesis. The focus is on using complex features to determine the geometry of the scene and the cameras, in contrast to traditional point-based methods. LÄS MER
20. Shaping Macroporous Ceramics : templated synthesis, X-ray tomography and permeability
Sammanfattning : Macroporous ceramic materials have found widespread technological application ranging from particulate filters in diesel engines, tissue engineering scaffolds, and as support materials in carbon capture processes. This thesis demonstrates how the pore space of macroporous alumina can be manipulated, analysed in three-dimensions (3D) using visualisation techniques, and functionalised with a CO2-adsorbing material.
