Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to discover and understand how caseworkers in the social services view and present the phenomenon of young people who run away from and/or are thrown out of their homes. What images of these young people do they entertain and how do they articulate their work with this group?The data were collected through 20 qualitative group interviews with caseworkers who in 1997 were working with young people between the ages of 12 and 20 at Individual and Family Care sections in all the social districts of Stockholm Municipality. 4. The care of children : A cross-national comparison of parents’ expectations and experiences
Sammanfattning : As a point of departure, this thesis is motivated by the big changes which have taken place in most Western European countries since the 1970s, with an increase in female labour market participation and, to some extent, men’s increased share of the domestic work. There is also a debate as to whether France, having a fairly extensive family support,should be categorised as closer to the Scandinavian countries or together with countries with more restrictive family policy such as Italy and Germany, and thus belonging to the conservative regime cluster as defined by Gösta Esping-Andersen. 5. Earning, caring, and the quest for sustainable societies : Toward stable evolution?
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies changing conditions for earning and caring in Italy and Sweden, two cases out of a population of European welfare states facing similar challenges and processes of labor market liberalization affecting conditions for earning, but also for caring. Focus is on how such processes of change affect individual living conditions for earning and caring, as well as on how societies change as a result of changing individual living conditions. LÄS MER
