  1. 1. Infrared Emittance of Paper : Method Development, Measurements and Application

    Författare :Caroline Hyll; Lars Mattsson; Hannes Vomhoff; Carl-Gustaf Ribbing; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Emittance; Emissivity; Thermography; Paper; Sheet; Papermaking; Paper mechanics; Moisture; Material properties; Reflectance; Transmittance; Absorptance; Infrared; Mid-wavelength infrared; MWIR; Long-wavelength infrared; LWIR; Angle-resolved; Directional;

    Sammanfattning : Thermography is a non-destructive technique which uses infrared radiation to obtain the temperature distribution of an object. The technique is increasingly used in the pulp and paper industry. To convert the detected infrared radiation to a temperature, the emittance of the material must be known. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers for high-power wide wavelength tuning

    Författare :Carl Borgentun; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; beam characterization; design; high power; wavelength tuning; Semiconductor laser; gain measurements; vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser; optically pumped semiconductor disk laser;

    Sammanfattning : In this work I present and verify a strategy that makes it possible to change the wavelength, or color, of an external cavity semiconductor laser over a very large range. This is achieved by a careful design and thorough optimization of the active component — the gain element of the laser. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Characterisation of Optical Fibers Using Dual-Comb Swept-Wavelength Interferometry

    Författare :Ekaterina Deriushkina; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coupled-core multi-core fibers; channel modeling; swept-wavelength interferometry; characterisation measurements; transfer function; dual-comb spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : The growth in data traffic coupled with trends in internet use will result in a requirement for interfaces of the network to reach Tb/s data rate in the future. Considering this, novel transmission techniques that can increase the date rate with orders of magnitude must be considered. One such example is space-division multiplexing (SDM) fibers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. New methods for evaluation of tissue creping and the importance of coating, paper and adhesion

    Författare :Jonna Boudreau; Christophe Barbier; Ulf Germgård; Sverker Albertsson; Robert Pelton; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tissue; creping; paper adhesion; Tissue paper; creping; paper adhesion; coating layer; adhesives; Yankee cylinder; crepe structure; wavelength measurements; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The creping process and the conditions on the Yankee cylinder dryer are key factors in a tissue paper mill, and they therefore need to be kept under good control in order to maintain a high and uniform quality. To this end it would be valuable to be able to make on-line measurements of Yankee coating thickness as well as the crepe structure of the tissue paper. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Laser Doppler Perfusion Monitoring and Imaging especially as regards testing for sympathetic nerve function

    Författare :Carolin Freccero; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; wavelength; sympathetic vasodilatation; sympathetic vasoconstriction; sympathetic nerve function; parasympathetic nerve function; laser Doppler perfusion imaging; laser Doppler perfusion monitoring; finger skin blood flow; fibre separation; contralateral cooling; Concentration; Fysiologi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Diagnostik; Diagnostics;

    Sammanfattning : The operating principle of all laser Doppler methods is based on the fact that incident photons shift in wavelength when interacting with moving blood cells passing through the microvascular network. After photodetection and further signal processing, the recorded parameter can be considered an arbitrary measure of tissue blood flow, and this is referred to as ?perfusion?. LÄS MER
