  1. 1. Evaluation of Modern Irrigation Techniques with Brackish Water

    Författare :Tarek Selim Aboulila; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Soil water; Soil Salinity; Drip irrigation; HYDRUS-2D 3D; El-Salam Canal; Egypt.;

    Sammanfattning : Modern irrigation techniques are becoming increasingly important in water-scarce countries especially in arid and semiarid regions. Higher crop production and better water use efficiency are usually achieved by drip irrigation as compared to other irrigation methods. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Condensation irrigation : a combined system for desalination and irrigation

    Författare :Jenny Lindblom; M. Thameur Chaibi; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Condensation Irrigation (CI) is a new irrigation method that combines desalination and subsurface irrigation by making use of saline water for supplying clean irrigation. In this system, solar stills are used for evaporating non-potable water, and the formed vapour heats and humidifies the ambient air above the water surface. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Spring water stress in Scots pine: interaction of snow and soil temperature

    Författare :Per-Erik Mellander; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Low temperature; soil warming; transpiration; root water uptake; carbon dioxide assimilation; soil frost; silvicultural practice; Pinus Sylvestris; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Water use and net carbon assimilation during spring was examined on Scots pine trees exposed to different soil warming dynamics in the field. Sap flow, needle water potential and net carbon assimilation were measured on trees that were exposed to a wide range of soil temperature regimes caused by manipulating the snow cover on tree-scale soil plots. 4. 4. Stelar Performance Under Drought : Regulation of Developmental Robustness and Plasticity of the Arabidopsis Root Xylem

    Författare :Prashanth Ramachandran; Annelie Carlsbecker; Ari Pekka Mähönen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HD-ZIP III TFs; miR165; Xylem; ABA; VND; plasticity; water deficit; Biologi med inriktning mot fysiologisk botanik; Biology with specialization in Physiological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Plants have evolved genetic mechanisms to sense, modulate and modify developmental programs in response to the changing environment. This brings forth challenges in stably generating tissue patterns while simultaneously allowing amenability. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanisms of plant root xylem developmental plasticity in response to water deficiency and salt

    Författare :Frauke Augstein; Annelie Carlsbecker; Eva Sundberg; Charles Melnyk; Malcolm Bennett; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ABA; developmental plasticity; GA; HD-ZIP III; VND; xylem; Biologi med inriktning mot fysiologisk botanik; Biology with specialization in Physiological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : Plants may be exposed to a variety of different environmental conditions including water deficiency and salt, both affecting the uptake of water into the plant. Water is taken up from the soil by the roots and distributed throughout the plant via the water conducting tissue, the xylem. LÄS MER
