1. Pelvic pain in pregnancy : Studies on symphyseal distension, serum relaxin levels and the influence of living conditions
Sammanfattning : Symphyseal width was assessed in 15 non-pregnant females using radiography and ultrasonography. Regression equation: y = 0.98x + 0.30 (mm), r2 = 0. LÄS MER
2. Chest pain and ischemic heart disease : Diagnosis and management in primary health care
Sammanfattning : Background and aims. In patients consulting for chest pain, it is of great importance to evaluate the possibility of ischemic heart disease (IHD). LÄS MER
3. Provoked vestibulodynia : studies on pain genetics and pain co-morbidity
Sammanfattning : Objective: The purpose of this thesis was to investigate a possible genetic predisposition for developing provoked vestibulodynia (PVD), focusing on previously defined single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in three genes with a known influence on endogenous pain modulation: GCH1, OPRM1 and 5HT-2A. We also investigated the effects of any potential interactions between these SNPs and the use of hormonal contraceptives, serum levels of β-endorphin and symptoms of anxiety and depression, on the risk of developing PVD and general pain sensitivity. 4. Surgery for ulnar nerve compression at the elbow : Focusing on factors influencing outcome
Sammanfattning : Ulnar nerve compression at the elbow (UNE) is a common peripheral nerve compression disorder in the upper limb. The literature regarding surgical outcome is inconclusive. LÄS MER
5. Ischaemic heart disease - risk assessment, diagnosis, and secondary preventive treatment in primary care : with special reference to the relevance of exercise ECG
Sammanfattning : Background: Ischaemic heart disease is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to most general practitioners. We sought to identify diagnostic characteristics and prognoses of patients in primary care that received exercise electrocardiography (ECG). We compared the ECG test results with respect to probability of subsequent cardiologist referrals. LÄS MER
