  1. 21. Basin-scale change in water availability and water quality under intensified irrigated agriculture

    Författare :Rebecka Törnqvist; Jerker Jarsjö; Marcel van der Perk; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Irrigation; Hydrology; Land-use change; Basin-scale; Central Asia; Aral Sea; Semi-arid; Return flow; Water saving; Health risk; Water quality; Surface water; Groundwater; Nitrogen; Attenuation; Recirculation; Climate change; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Changes in land use and water use can greatly impact the cycling of water and water-borne substances. Increased redistribution of river water to irrigated fields can cause enhanced evapotranspiration and decreased river discharge. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Peakflow response of stream networks : implications of physical descriptions of streams and temporal change

    Författare :Anna Åkesson; Anders Wörman; Alberto Viglione; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Streamflow routing; peakflow predictions; parameterization; hydrological response; stage-dependency; flooded cross-sections; stream networks; backwater effects; temporal change; land use change; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Through distributed stream network routing, it has quantitatively been shown that the relationship between flow travel time and discharge varies strongly nonlinearly with stream stage and with catchment-specific properties.Physically derived distributions of water travel times through a stream network were successfully used to parameterise the streamflow response function of a compartmental hydrological model. 3. 23. Water quality modeling based on landscape analysis: importance of riparian hydrology

    Författare :Thomas Grabs; Jan Seibert; Kevin Bishop; Hjalmar Laudon; Brian McGlynn; Georgia Destouni; Irena Creed; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water quality model; terrain analysis; geographical information system GIS; riparian zone; total organic carbon TOC; boreal catchments; Hydrology; Hydrologi; geografi med naturgeografisk inriktning; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Several studies in high-latitude catchments have demonstrated the importance of near-stream riparian zones as hydrogeochemical hotspots with a substantial influence on stream chemistry. An adequate representation of the spatial variability of riparian-zone processes and characteristics is the key for modeling spatio-temporal variations of stream-water quality. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Ridged sea ice modelling in climate applications

    Författare :Sebastian Mårtensson; Markus Meier; Kristofer Döös; Peter A. Lundberg; Frank Kauker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic ocean; Baltic Sea; sea ice; ice dynamics; numerical modelling; climate; ice deformation; ice compression; physical and biogeochemical interactions; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : This work aims to increase our understanding of the nature of large scale features of sea ice from a dynamics point of view.Sea ice plays an important part in the exchange of heat and humidity between sea and air and thus is an important component of the climate system. 5. 25. Monitoring Water Availability in Northern Inland Waters from Space

    Författare :Saeid Aminjafari; Fernando Jaramillo; Ian Brown; Cathleen Jones; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water occurrence; Lake water level; Remote sensing; Altimetry; D-InSAR; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : River deltas and lakes support biodiversity and offer crucial ecosystem services such as freshwater provision, flood control, and fishing. However, climate change and human activities have affected deltas and lakes globally, altering the services they provide. LÄS MER
