    Sammanfattning : Aims: The overall aims of this thesis was describe the current nursing postoperative pain assessment and management practices in the surgical wards in Jordan and evaluate the effectiveness of implementing a ostoperative pain management (POPM) program in improving the Jordanian nurses’ POP assessment and management practices in the surgical wards.     Sammanfattning : Abstract The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge about underlying causes and perioperative risk factors of Acute Confusional State (ACS) in elderly patients with hip fracture and to investigate the effect of a multi-factorial intervention program in order to decrease the number of patients who develop ACS. The aim in paper I was to describe elderly patients with hip fracture on the basis of the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ ASA classification system and to identify preoperative risk factors in relation to the postoperative outcome measured up to 4-months after surgery.     Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on some aspects of primary health care in Sweden before and after the introduction of "pain advisers": the district nurses opinions regarding their knowledge, management and documentation of patients with chronic-pain conditions, the review of the district nurses documentation of these patients and these patients opinions of the care and their own well-being. Moreover, it focuses on patients satisfaction with the primary health care given by the district nurses (not only patients with chronic-pain conditions). LÄS MER
