  1. 1. Opportunistic viral infection after paediatric transplantation

    Författare :Carola Kullberg-Lindh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Paediatric liver transplantation; paediatric stem cell transplantation; immunosuppression; opportunistic; CMV; EBV; AdV; HHV-6; real-time PCR; monitoring; specimen; post transplant lymphoproliferative disease;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Opportunistic viral infections can cause considerable morbidity and mortality in organ and stem cell transplanted (SCT) patients, mainly due to iatrogenic T cell dysfunction. Whereas in SCT patients, in general the immunosuppressive treatment can be discontinued after 6-12 months, for the majority of organ transplanted patients, the need for treatment is life-long. 2. 2. Neurological complications after stem cell transplantation in children

    Författare :Johanna Rubin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a well established method used in the treatment of a number of benign and malignant blood diseases, inborn errors of metabolism and severe congenital immunodeficiency syndromes. Around 60 children are transplanted in Sweden every year. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Quality of life and health following allogeneic stem cell transplantation in childhood

    Författare :Catharina M Löf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Children; SCT; HRQoL; health; long-term; late effect; psychosocial; socioeconomic;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (SCT) is curative in refractory leukaemia and in several other haematological and immunological disorders. However, SCT is associated with morbidity and mortality and entails major strains on children and their families. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on polyomaviruses in humans : in relation to haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cancer

    Författare :Géraldine Giraud; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The simultaneous discovery of two polyomaviruses in humans in 1971, BK and JC viruses (BKV and JCV), initiated the research on polyomaviruses in relation to human diseases. This has now been intensified with the consecutive discoveries, the last three years, of three new family members, KI, WU and Merkel cell polyomaviruses (KIPyV, WUPyV and MCPyV). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Allogeneic stem cell transplantation in children : identification and prevention of complications : adoptive transfer of EBV-immunity

    Författare :Åsa Gustafsson Jernberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Children; CTL; EBV; Graft-versus-leukaemia; Stemcell transplantation; unrelated;

    Sammanfattning : Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) can cure leukaemia, aplastic anaemia, and some inborn errors of metabolism and immunodeficiencies in children. As only 113 of patients who need SCT have an HLA-identical sibling, the use of alternative donors has increased, to over 50% of all paediatric SCTs at our centre. LÄS MER
