    Sammanfattning : BackgroundThe severity of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is usually described in terms of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and number of exacerbations. However, COPD is a complex disease with different ways of expression, involving pulmonary symptoms, extra pulmonal manifestations and comorbidities, which altogether affect the patient by contributing to reduced functional capacity, increased shortness of breath, reduced health-related quality of life and increased mortality.
