  1. 1. Characterisation of Atrial Electrophysiology with respect to Atrial Fibrillation - A Non-Invasive Approach

    Författare :Fredrik Holmqvist; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electrocardiography; Atrial fibrillation; Human; Conduction; Signal; Spectral analysis; P wave morphology; Atrial remodelling; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice, accounting. Recent findings highlight the need for better characterisation of the arrhythmia in each patient, in order to improve patient treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Atrial Fibrillation. Modulation of the atrial fibrillatory frequency. A non-invasive approach

    Författare :Carl Meurling; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; elektrofysiologi; Förmaksflimmer; arytmi; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet; non-invasiv;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: To non-invasively detect and explore the changes in atrial fibrillatory cycle length (i.e. changes in the atrial refractory period) in humans with chronic atrial fibrillation (CAF) following autonomic modulation and pharmacological intervention. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The oesophageal route in clinical electrocardiology

    Författare :Steen Pehrson; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; oesophageal electrocardiogram; cardiac pacing; Transoesophageal stimulation; arrhythmias; non-invasive electrophysiology; atrial fibrillation; supraventricular tachycardia; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the clinical use of the oesophageal electrode in electrocardiology. The three areas covered are oesophageal electro- cardiography, the biophysics of transoesophageal atrial stimulation (TAS) and the clinical utility of TAS. The literature is reviewed with respect to these areas. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Porcine myocardial ischemia-reperfusion studies on cardioprotection, ventricular arrhythmia and electrophysiology

    Författare :Jacob Odenstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :porcine; myocardial ischemia; ventricular arrhythmia; sudden cardiac death; electrophysiology; vectorcardiography; endocardial mapping; spinal cord stimulation;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Coronary artery disease is the primary cause of death in adults in the industrialised world and ventricular fibrillation associated with myocardial ischemia is the main cause of sudden cardiac death. Restoration of blood flow and preservation of myocardial integrity throughout ischemia and reperfusion is essential to improve clinical outcome. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Role of Impaired Interatrial Conduction in Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

    Författare :Pyotr Platonov; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; electrophysiology; Cardiovascular system; anatomy; interatrial conduction; lone atrial fibrillation; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the role of interatrial conduction defects in the genesis of lone paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) using combined approach of non-invasive signal-averaged P-wave ECG, invasive electrophysiological (EP) studies, anatomical studies and animal experiments. Non-filtered signal-averaged P-wave ECG revealed irregularities in orthogonal P-wave morphology and the presence of double-peaked configurations of P-wave spatial magnitude in patients with lone paroxysmal AF compared with healthy individuals (I), suggesting the presence of interatrial conduction delays localised in the posterior-inferior interatrial route.
