16. Atrial Fibrillation. Modulation of the atrial fibrillatory frequency. A non-invasive approach
Sammanfattning : Aim: To non-invasively detect and explore the changes in atrial fibrillatory cycle length (i.e. changes in the atrial refractory period) in humans with chronic atrial fibrillation (CAF) following autonomic modulation and pharmacological intervention. LÄS MER
17. Unstable coronary artery disease : non-invasive indicators of severity of coronary lesions and the effects of thrombolysis
Sammanfattning : Non-invasive indicators of severity of coronary lesions and the effects of thrombolysis were evaluated in 205 men, 38 to 70 years of age with unstable coronary aticty disease (CAD)- i.e. unstable angina or non-Q wave myocardial infarction - admitted to the coronary care units in nine hospitals. 18. Conservation Genetics of Scandinavian Wolverines
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, genetic methods for individual identification and sex determination of wolverines from non-invasive samples were developed and applied in genetic monitoring of Scandinavian wolverine populations. Paternity and mating system of wolverines were studied by combining genetic analysis with telemetry data. LÄS MER
19. Population size and genetic diversity of Nigerian lions (Panthera leo)
Sammanfattning : High growth rate in human populations, agricultural developments and industrialization have impinged negatively on the natural habitats of most large carnivores, causing fragmentation, isolation and consequently reduction in population size. Lions (Panthera leo) that once roamed most parts of Southern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North America, northern part of South America and most parts of Africa are today found only in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and at a single site in India. 20. Gaze Based Human Intention Analysis
Sammanfattning : The ability to determine an upcoming action or what decision a human is about to take, can be useful in multiple areas, for example during human-robot collaboration in manufacturing, where knowing the intent of the operator could provide the robot with important information to help it navigate more safely. Another field that could benefit from a system that provides information regarding human intentions is the field of psychological testing where such a system could be used as a platform for new research or be one way to provide information in the diagnostic process.
