1. Nanopolysaccharide coatings for functional surfaces in water-treatment materials : From mechanisms to process scalability
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, materials from renewable resources were used to develop functionalized surfaces for water treatment. The work is thus inspired by, and contributes to, the United Nations sustainable goals of: (i) clean water and sanitation, (ii) climate action, (iii) responsible consumption and production, (iv) life below water, and (v) partnerships for the goals. 3. Nanopolysaccharides for adsorption of heavy metal ions from water
Sammanfattning : With population expansion and industrialization, heavy metal has become one of the biggest and most toxic water pollutants, which is a serious problem for human society today. The aim of this work is to explore the potential of nanopolysaccharides including nanocellulose and nanochitin to remove metal ions from contaminated water. LÄS MER
4. Adsorption behavior of heavy metal ions from aqueous medium on nanocellulose
Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to explore the potential of nanocellulose, nanocellulose derivatives and nanochitin to remove metal ions from contaminated water. The above nano-polysaccharides were of interest in water purification technologies due to their high surface area and versatile surface chemistry. LÄS MER
5. Porous structures based on nanopolysaccharides for medical applications
Sammanfattning : Recently, the use of bio-based nanomaterials has attracted much interest in medical applications due to their cytocompatibility, good moisture stability, good mechanical properties, hydrophilic surfaces and their ability to form porous structures. The aim of this work is to develop porous nanocomposites based on nanochitin and nanocellulose with controlled pore size and porosity in order to facilitate cell growth and interconnectivity and to investigate their potential in wound dressing and cartilage regeneration.
