1. Weak Boundary and Interface Procedures for Wave and Flow Problems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we have analyzed the accuracy and stability aspects of weak boundary and interface conditions (WBCs) for high order finite difference methods on Summations-By-Parts (SBP) form. The numerical technique has been applied to wave propagation and flow problems. LÄS MER
2. On Signal Dependent Basis Functions, Estimation of Event Related Potentials and Multiple Window Spectrum Analysis
Sammanfattning : The three parts of this thesis are different examples of utilization of signal dependent basis functions in the estimation procedure. The first part surveys a number of parametric methods applied to estimation of single ERP (P300). LÄS MER
3. High-order finite difference approximations for hyperbolic problems : multiple penalties and non-reflecting boundary conditions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we use finite difference operators with the Summation-By-Partsproperty (SBP) and a weak boundary treatment, known as SimultaneousApproximation Terms (SAT), to construct high-order accurate numerical schemes. The SBP property and the SAT’s makes the schemes provably stable. 4. The Information-Theoretic Cost of Learning Fading Channels
Sammanfattning : Recent results in communication theory suggest that significant throughput gains in wireless fading networks can be achieved by exploiting network coordination (e.g., CoMP, network MIMO, and interference alignment), provided that each node in the network has perfect channel knowledge. 5. High Octane Number Fuels in Advanced Combustion Modes for Sustainable Transportation
Sammanfattning : The research community recently proposed a low-temperature combustion (LTC) concept that can simultaneously reduce Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and soot emissions while maintaining high engine efficiency. Given that diesel fuel is prone to preignition with early injection, gasoline-like fuel with high octane number is utilised to provide sufficient ignition delay and extend the load range. LÄS MER
