  1. 1. Toward increased applicability of ultrasound contrast agents

    Författare :Malin Larsson; Lars-Åke Brodin; Anna Bjällmark; Kenneth Caidahl; Jan Engvall; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contrast agent; Contrast-to-tissue-ratio; Echocardiography; Endocardial border; Microbubbles; Multimodal; Phantom; Polymer; Ultrasound; Wall motion score index.; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Sammanfattning : Ultrasound is one of the most widely used modalities in medical imaging because of its high cost-effectiveness, wide availability in hospitals, generation of real-time images, and use of nonionizing radiation. However, the image quality can be insufficient in some patients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nano-Engineered Contrast Agents : Toward Multimodal Imaging and Acoustophoresis

    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nano-engineered microbubbles; SPION nanoparticles; Acoustic characterization of MBs; Fracturing mechanism of MBs; Opto-acoustics; Acoustophoresis; Physics; Fysik; Järnvägsgruppen - Ljud och vibrationer; Järnvägsgruppen - Ljud och vibrationer; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Sammanfattning : Diagnostic ultrasound (US) is safer, quicker and cheaper than other diagnostic imaging modalities. Over the past two decades, the applications of US imaging has been widened due to the development of injectable, compressible and encapsulated microbubbles (MBs) that provide an opportunity to improve conventional echocardiographic imaging, blood flow assessment and molecular imaging. 3. 3. MRI Contrast Enhancement using Gd2O3 Nanoparticles

    Författare :Anna Klasson; Maria Engström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; nanoparticles; gadolinium oxide; magnetic resonance imaging; contrast agent; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : There is an increasing interest for nanomaterials in biomedical applications and in this work, nanoparticles of gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) have been investigated as a novel contrast agent for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Relaxation properties have been studied in aqueous solutions as well as in cell culture medium and the nanoparticles have been explored as cell labeling agents. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Multimodal sentinel lymph node imaging using nanoscale-tailored particles; The importance of particle size

    Författare :Pontus Kjellman; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; multimodal contrast agent; USPIO; sentinel lymph node; in vivo; EL-4 tumor;

    Sammanfattning : As a cancer grows it will, at a certain stage of disease progression, start spreading in the body. For several types of cancer this spreading will first occur through the lymphatic system and the first place where metastatic cell will be encountered is the first lymph node that drains the area where the tumor is located. 5. 5. Ultrasound Contrast Agents Loaded with Magnetic Nanoparticles : Acoustic and Mechanical Characterization

    Författare :VeeraVenkata Satyanarayana Kothapalli; Lars-Åke Brodin; Jan Engvall; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ultrasound contrast agents; SPION nanoparticles; harmonic oscillation; backscattering power; attenuation coefficient; phase velocity; nonlinear equation of motion;

    Sammanfattning : The current methodologies in body scanning diagnostic uses different simultaneous imaging modalities like Ultrasound (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emission tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). The field requires combination of different modalities for effective use in clinical diagnostics. LÄS MER
