  1. 1. On Some Properties and Applications of Patterned Ferromagnetic Thin Films

    Författare :Pierre E. Roy; Peter Svedlindh; Per Nordblad; Jeffrey McCord; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; micromagnetics; vortex; spin dynamics; domains; MFM; microwave; patterned; permalloy; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : A microwave reflection method has been used to measure the spin excitations corresponding to the translational mode of magnetic vortices in samples containing either one or two vortices. Experimental findings are complemented by micromagnetic simulations. One-vortex systems are investigated in micron-sized circular and elliptical cylinders. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Tailored Properties of Ferromagnetic Thin Films

    Författare :Peter Warnicke; Peter Svedlindh; Peter Grünberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; micromagnetics; domain wall; vortex; pinning potential; nanowire; spin dynamics; spin transfer torque; magnetic anisotropy; MFM; Permalloy; PMA; magnetic multilayer; Curie temperature; DMS; GaMnAs; magnetic bioseparation; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic thin films and patterned nanostructures have been studied with respect to their magnetic properties using SQUID-magnetometry, magnetic force microscopy, electrical measurements, and micromagnetic calculations. Properties of vortex domain walls, trapped in Permalloy nanowires with artificial constrictions, were investigated experimentally and by numerical calculations. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Analysis and numerical methods for multiscale problems in magnetization dynamics

    Författare :Lena Leitenmaier; Olof Runborg; Carlos Garcia-Cervera; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates a multiscale version of the Landau-Lifshitz equation and how to solve it using the framework of Heterogeneous Multiscale Methods (HMM). The Landau-Lifshitz equation is the governing equation in micromagnetics, modeling magnetization dynamics. LÄS MER
