1. Modeling Diesel spray combustion using a Detailed Chemistry Approach
Sammanfattning : The rapid development of computer hardware during the past decade has contributed substantially to advances in almost all branches of science. Computer modeling is being applied to increasingly small physical scales and increasingly large domains, facilitating the generation of advanced phenomenological models and models based on first principles. 2. Four Proposals for Enterprise Modeling
Sammanfattning : Any enterprise whether a major corporation, a small family-owned business, a public school, a hospital, or a military unit needs to develop itself continuously in order to adapt to the challenges originating within itself and from its environment, in relation to its overall purpose or mission. Deliberate development and management of an enterprise manifest complexity that gives rise to a central challenge: how can we obtain a comprehensive intelligibility of an enterprise? One conceptual tool to overcome this challenge is enterprise modeling; it supports articulation of an enterprise and consequently intelligibility of its complexity. LÄS MER
3. Meso-Mechanical Modeling and Analysis of Adhesive Layers
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the modeling, simulation and analysis of adhesive layers. By use of an in situ scanning electron microscopy study it is found that the adhesive studied in the present thesis has a very complex structure with two different compounds, a mineral and an epoxy/thermoplastic blend. 4. Large-Eddy Simulation of Gasoline Fuel Spray Injection at Ultra-High Injection Pressures
Sammanfattning : Gasoline direct injection is a state-of-the-art technique that reduces hydrocarbon and particulate emissions. However, further improvement is needed to meet current as well as future emission regulations. LÄS MER
5. Meso-Mechanical Modeling of Thin Adhesive Layers
Sammanfattning : A thin adhesive layer is analyzed using a representative volume element (RVE). The RVE is comprised by, both continuum and interfacial finite elements. The interface elements allow for crack initiation and crack propagation. To obtain realistic results from the RVE simulation, an in situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) study is performed. LÄS MER
