  1. 6. HOST DEFENSE PEPTIDES OF THE COAGULATION SYSTEM AND THEIR THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL

    Författare :Gopinath Kasetty; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Host defense peptides; Sepsis; Serine proteases; Factor X; Immunomodulation;

    Sammanfattning : Prevention and control of infectious diseases is seriously hampered by an increasing prevalence of bacteria that are resistant towards conventional antibiotics. Resistant bacteria are often the root cause of infections that trigger the complex clinical syndrome called sepsis, which is a concern for high morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  2. 7. On the Biosynthesis and Processing of Cathepsin G, Leukocyte Elastase, and Azurocidin neutrophil granule members of a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily

    Författare :Anders Lindmark; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Haematology; sorting; Activation; propeptide; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : The serine proteases cathepsin G, leukocyte elastase, proteinase 3, and the inactive protease homologue azurocidin, stored in the azurophil granules of neutrophils, belong to a hematopoietic serine protease superfamily with members in mature effector cells of bone marrow origin. Promonocytic U-937 cells were used for studying the biosynthesis of cathepsin G and leukocyte elastase by biosynthetic radiolabelling. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Peptide-Based Inhibitors of Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Serine Protease: Kinetic Aspects and Inhibitor Design

    Författare :Anton Poliakov; Helena Danielson; Boris Turk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; serine protease; inhibitor; slow-binding; protein purification; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C is a serious disease that affects about 200 million people worldwide. No anti-HCV vaccine or specific anti-viral drugs are available today. Non-structural protein 3 (NS3) of HCV is a bifunctional serine protease/helicase, and the protease has become a prime target in the search for anti-HCV drugs. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Lung Microenvironments Influence on Mast Cell Plasticity and Spatial Distribution of Immune cells

    Författare :Premkumar Siddhuraj; Luftvägsinflammation; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; medicine; lung diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammatory airway diseases and lower respiratory tract infections are leading causes of severe illness, disability and death worldwide. Much of today´s hypotheses about the underlying inflammatory processes and pathogenic contribution by immune cells come from in vitro experiments or animal models. LÄS MER
