1. Discrete Velocity Models and Half-Space Problems
Sammanfattning : We study some questions related to discrete velocity models (DVMs) of the Boltzmann equation. In the case of plane stationary problems the typical DVM reduces to a dynamical system (system of ODEs). Properties of such systems are studied in this paper in the most general case. LÄS MER
2. On Half-Space and Shock-Wave Problems for Discrete Velocity Models of the Boltzmann Equation
Sammanfattning : We study some questions related to general discrete velocity (with arbitrarily number of velocities) models (DVMs) of the Boltzmann equation. In the case of plane stationary problems the typical DVM reduces to a dynamical system (system of ODEs). Properties of such systems are studied in the most general case. LÄS MER
3. Application of the Boundary Element Method to combustion noise and half-space problems
Sammanfattning : The Boundary-Element-Method (BEM) is a powerful and established tool in computational acoustics. This thesis aims at an enhancement of the method towards combustion noise and half-space problems.First, it is directly coupled to an incompressible Large Eddy Simulation (LES) to calculate the sound radiation of open flames. 4. Direct and inverse resonance problems for seismic surface waves
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the investigation of direct and inverse resonance results for the Love and the Rayleigh operators, which arise from decoupling the three-dimensional elastic wave equation in the semiclassical limit in the half-space. Direct resonance results in terms of the asymptotic distribution of resonances in the complex plane are obtained for the Love and the Rayleigh operators. LÄS MER
5. Applications of 3D time domain wave splittings to direct and inverse scattering
Sammanfattning : The three-dimensional direct and inverse scattering problems in the time-domain are considered in the present thesis. The direct problem is to find an explicit or numerical solution of the transient reflection for given physical parameters. LÄS MER
