16. On leachate emissions from municipal solid waste
Sammanfattning : When attention is drawn to the recovery of resources within waste, the amount and types of waste disposed of at landfills change. A waste management system based on separate kerbside collection, sorting, recycling, and pretreatment with material and/or energy recovery produces new residues, which finally end up at landfills. 17. Surface Wave Testing of Pavements
Sammanfattning : A novel approach for surface wave testing of pavements is presented. It is a non-destructive testing (NDT) technique that can be used to obtain the thickness and stiffness properties of the different layers in a pavement. LÄS MER
18. Properties of heavy rainfall in an East Asian monsoon catchment - Analysis of daily rain gauge data
Sammanfattning : The East Asian monsoon has a strong seasonal effect on the rainfall regime of Eastern China. In order to mitigate floods and conserve the water for use throughout the year, dams and other hydro-structures are built. The design of the structures requires knowledge of the rainfall characteristics that influence the inflow to them. LÄS MER
19. Characterisation of Urban Rainfall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Sammanfattning : Rainfall characteristics of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are studied in space and time; on a large scale, 550 km2, and long term scale to find out the monsoon influence, and on urban basin scale, 23 km2, to determine dynamic properties of rainfalls and spatial correlations, and on a point scale to determine the probabilities of very high rain intensities. The importance of spatial and temporal variability of rainfall was investigated applying cross correlation on long term historical rainfalls from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. LÄS MER
20. Automated performance monitoring of concrete dams
Sammanfattning : The Swedish hydropower industry operates a large number of power plants and dams geographically spread over the country. The level of safety of a specific dam is to a large extent determined during the design and construction phases that in the case of Swedish hydropower plants took place several decades ago. LÄS MER
