  1. 1. Cell-mediated immunity to flavivirus infections

    Författare :Kim Blom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : NK cells and T cells constitute a major part of the cell-mediated immune system and play important roles in the host defense against viral infections. Most current knowledge of cell-mediated immune responses to primary acute viral infections comes from murine models, while relatively less is known about human responses to, in particular, acute viral infections. 2. 2. Enhancing T cell mediated immunity in DNA vaccination

    Författare :Jan Alvar Lindencrona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA vaccination; CTL; T cell; IFN-gamma; anti-tumor immunity; HER-2 neu; Influenza; LCMV; Virus-Like Particles; murine models; adjuvants; immunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : For centuries infectious diseases have been one of the main causes of death in the world. With the invention of vaccine technology 200 years ago, we have been able to impede and even eradicate several dangerous pathogens. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Flow cytometric methods for assessment of cell-mediated immune responses

    Författare :Karina Godoy Ramirez; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Flow cytometry; intracellular cytokine staining ICS ; NK cell; CTL; cytotoxicity; HIV-1;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to develop and improve flow cytometry-based methods for assessment of cellmediated immune responses (CMI) induced by natural infection or vaccination. Traditionally, the measurement of anti genspecific cellular immune responses has been based on the use of complex, labourintensive, and less informative bulkresults assays (51Cr-release, 3 3H-thymidin uptake and Limiting dilution assay, LDA). 5. 5. The Importance of Cell-Mediated Immunity for the Development of Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Maria G. E. Karlsson; Stellan Sandler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background Type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus is an autoimmune disease characterised by infiltration of T-lymphocytes in the islets of Langerhans. In particular, activated Th1-like lymphocytes secreting IFN-γ are suggested to contribute to the inflammatory process and the destruction of ß-cells, whereas Th2-like cells producing IL-4 might even be protective.
