    Sammanfattning : Syftet med avhandlingen är att, ur ett vårdvetenskapligt, och ett i detta inkluderat vårdteologiskt per- spektiv, belysa innebörden av fenomenet tröst och hur tröst förhåller sig till lidande och vård. Det görs i två empiriska intervjustudier med vårdare och äldre vårdtagare samt en tredje delstudie som analyse- rar tröst såsom den framstår i Jobs bok i Gamla testamentet. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The study in this thesis was conducted as an intervention project in three nursing home wards in Sweden, in a big city as well as in rural areas, one year in each ward. The intervention consisted of supervision for individualised and documented nursing care with a multidimensional assessment instrument, the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI/MDS), used as a basis.     Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to deepen the understanding of nursing care for seriously ill patients on the edge of life in intensive care unit (ICU) and nursing home when questions were raised whether to withhold or withdraw curative treatment. Method: All studies were conducted in a qualitative frame of reference with interviews of nurses in two contexts in Norway; group interviews of 14 nurses in an ICU (study I, III), and individual interviews of 14 nurses in two nursing homes (study II, IV).
