  1. 6. Molecular heterogeneity of prostate cancer bone metastasis

    Författare :Erik Bovinder Ylitalo; Pernilla Wikström; Anders Bergh; Maria Brattsand; Vessela Kristensen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; CRPC; castration-resistant; androgen receptor; splice variant; abiraterone; cabazitaxel; ABCB1; cholesterol; Mdr1; P-gp; bone metastasis; immune response; metabolism; osteoblast; osteoclast; BMP; methylation;

    Sammanfattning : Castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) develops after androgen deprivation therapy of advanced PC, often with metastatic growth in bone. Patients with metastatic CRPC have very poor prognosis. Growth of CRPC, in most but not all patients, seems to involve androgen receptor (AR) activity, despite castrate levels of serum testosterone. 2. 7. Metabolic Risk Factors and Molecular Subtypes of Colorectal Cancer

    Författare :Robin Myte; Bethany van Guelpen; Richard Palmqvist; Jenny Häggström; Matty Weijenberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; risk factors; metabolic syndrome; one-carbon metabolism; molecular subtypes; KRAS; BRAF; MSI; molecular pathological epidemiology; Cancer Epidemiology; cancerepidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a heterogeneous disease developing from distinct pathways, resulting in tumor subtypes with large differences in clinical and molecular characteristics. Molecular characteristics are increasingly being used clinically to guide therapy. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Small non-coding RNAs in cancer

    Författare :Helena Persson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microRNA; non-coding RNA; breast cancer; CYP3A4; bladder cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The complex genetics of cancer, which allows tumours to grow and spread while bypassing the control circuitry of the cell, involves dysregulation of the genome, transcriptome and proteome. The importance of protein-coding genes such as growth factors and hormone receptors is well established. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Metabolic and immunological interactions between adipose tissue and breast cancer - implications of obesity in tumor progression

    Författare :Peter Micallef; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; Adipose tissue; Macrophage; Metabolism; Paracrine;

    Sammanfattning : Triple-negative breast cancers have fewer treatment options than other breast cancers. The overall goal of this research is to identify new pharmaceutical targets for triple-negative breast cancer through studies of the tumor-promoting crosstalk between tumor and surrounding adipose tissue. 5. 10. Energy metabolism and angiogenesis in atherosclerosis and cancer

    Författare :Matias Ekstrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Energy metabolism; Hypoxia; Reactive oxygen species; Intussusceptive angiogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : Energy metabolism requires supply of glucose and oxygen. In atherosclerotic plaques and cancer tumors, there are local areas with mismatch in demand and supply of oxygen and nutrients. The resulting cellular energy imbalance may promote energy failure and stimulation of angiogenesis. LÄS MER
