6. No-Touch Saphenous Veins in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting : Long-term Angiographic, Surgical, and Clinical Aspects
Sammanfattning : Ischemic heart disease is currently the leading cause of death globally. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is considered the best treatment for many patients and its success depends on the long-term patency of the conduits. LÄS MER
7. No touch vein harvesting technique for coronary artery by-pass surgery : impact on patency rate, development of atheroscleosis, left ventricular function and clinical outcome during 16 years follow-up
Sammanfattning : This thesis was based on a prospective randomized trial which was started in 1993 to compare the no touch (NT) with the conventional (C) technique of saphenous vein harvesting for CABG.In paper I, was demonstrated superior patency for the NT grafts at short-term (1.5 years; 95,6% vs 89%; p < 0,05) and long-term follow-up (8. 8. Endothelin and angiotensin II receptors in human coronary arteries and bypass grafts - Alterations in cardiovascular disease
Sammanfattning : Angiotensin II (Ang II) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) induce strong vasoconstriction via activation of receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells. In this thesis, the contractile Ang II and endothelin receptors were examined in endothelium-denuded human coronary arteries and in bypass grafts (the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein), with focus on receptor alterations in cardiovascular disease. 9. Vascular Wall Responses to Bypass Grafting - Studies in Mice
Sammanfattning : Abstract Vein grafts are frequently used in bypass surgery for treatment of coronary artery disease and lower limb ischemia. Unfortunately the long-term patency is impaired by vein graft stenoses due to intimal hyperplasia (IH). It is assumed that exaggerated intimal thickening is initiated by vessel wall injuries or local flow disturbances. LÄS MER
10. Endothelial function and dysfunction in coronary artery bypass grafting
Sammanfattning : The integrity of the endothelium is of importance for short- and long-term results following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). In this thesis different factors of the endothelial role in the regulation of vascular tone in relation to various current aspects of CABG have been investigated. LÄS MER
