  1. 11. Biomechanical Parameter Estimation for Wearable Exoskeleton System Design

    Författare :Longbin Zhang; Elena Gutierrez Farewik; Ruoli Wang; Christian Smith; Max Ortiz Catalan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hill-type muscle model; generalization; transfer learning; computationally modeling; human-machine system; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Exoskeletons are increasingly used in rehabilitation and daily life in persons with motor disorders after neurological injuries. The overall objective of this thesis is to study how to robustly and accurately predict joint torque using inputs from sensors that would technically be feasible to equip on an assistive exoskeleton, and to develop a framework that could be used to evaluate the user-exoskeleton interface. 2. 12. Stochastic finite element simulations of real life frontal crashes : With emphasis on chest injury mechanisms in near-side oblique loading conditions

    Författare :Johan Iraeus; Mats Lindquist; Ulf Björnstig; Mats G Larsson; Joel Stitzel; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Introduction. Road traffic injuries are the eighth leading cause of death globally and the leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29. Of individuals killed or injured in road traffic injuries, a large group comprises occupants sustaining a thorax injury in frontal crashes. The elderly are particularly at risk, as they are more fragile. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Walking efficiently with smart springs

    Författare :Israel Luis; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Ruoli Wang; Benjamin J. Fregly; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Musculoskeletal modeling and simulation; muscle-tendon biomechanics; muscle parameter calibration; metabolic energy models; gait analysis; exoskeleton assistance; biomechanics; Biomekanisk modellering och simulering; rörelseorganen; biomekanik; muskel; muskelmodell och muskelarkitektur; metabolisk energi och kostnad; gång; gånganalys; exoskelett; hjälpmedel; gångpatologi; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Numerous assistive exoskeletons have been developed in recent years to assist walking in individuals with and without motor disorders. A standard metric to measure the efficacy of assistance is the change in the metabolic energy cost between unassisted and assisted conditions. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Characteristics of nearside car crashes : an integrated approach to side impact safety

    Författare :Cecilia Sunnevång; Maria Krafft; Mats Lindkvist; Christer Hydén; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Approximately 1.25 million people globally are killed in traffic accidents yearly. To achieve the UN Global Goal of a 50% reduction of fatal and serious injuries in 2020 a safer infrastructure, as well as new safety technologies, will be needed. Side crashes represent 20% of all serious and 25 % of fatal injuries. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Quantifying Gait Characteristics and Neurological Effects in people with Spinal Cord Injury using Data-Driven Techniques

    Författare :Minh Truong; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Ruoli Wang; Emelie Butler Forslund; Åke Seiger; Peter Christian Raffalt; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : Spinal cord injury, whether traumatic or nontraumatic, can partially or completely damage sensorimotor pathways between the brain and the body, leading to heterogeneous gait abnormalities. Mobility impairments also depend on other factors such as age, weight, time since injury, pain, and walking aids used. LÄS MER
