11. Studies on Industrial-Scale Thermal Modification of Wood
Sammanfattning : Wood as a raw material is useful for many purposes even though some properties are less than optimal, for example, dimensional stability and durability. These characteristics can however be improved by different treatment methods. LÄS MER
12. Analysis of drying wood based on nondestructive measurements and numerical tools
Sammanfattning : Improved understanding of moisture and mechanical behaviour is a general objective for wood drying research. The main objective of this doctoral thesis was to develop nondestructive experimental methods suitable for collecting valuable response data related to the moisture behaviour and mechanical behaviour of drying wood and to refine this information into modelling parameters. 13. Methods for collecting and analysing simultaneous strain and moisture data during wood drying
Sammanfattning : Improved understanding of moisture and mechanical behaviour is an international objective for wood drying research. The main objective of this licentiate thesis work was to develop an experimental method suitable for collecting valuable response data related to the moisture and mechanical behaviour of drying wood. 14. Dried nanofibrillated cellulose and its bionanocomposites
Sammanfattning : During the past decade there has been a growing interest in the reinforcement of synthetic polymers with cellulose nanowhiskers and nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) obtained from plants or bacteria. Their beneficial mechanical properties like high stiffness and strength, in combination with their low mass allowed successful reinforcement of water based polymer dispersions (latexes) for the production of solution cast composite films. 15. Preparation and properties of dried nanfibrillated cellulose and its nanocomposites
Sammanfattning : The production of fully degradable nanocomposites with biopolymers as matrix and cellulose nanofibrils with high aspect ratios as reinforcement is still a challenging task. Also, due to the large amount of hydroxyl groups on the surface of these nanofibrils, they tend to irreversibly agglomerate during drying. LÄS MER
