1. Effects of Steel Fibres on Cracking in Reinforced Concrete
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTAlthough it is well known that fibre reinforcement acts as a crack arresting agent, there is still a need for deeper knowledge of the actual cracking behaviour, especially regarding cracks with widths smaller than 0.3mm. LÄS MER
2. Utilization of Andean grain flours in the development of wheat flour dough
Sammanfattning : Bread dough was studied in relation to three Andean grain flours, quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa), amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus) and canahua (Chenopodium pallidicaule), as partial replacements for wheat flour with the perspectives of dough and breadmaking. This thesis deals with the understanding of both dough as a complex system, consisting of various water-filled polymers, and dough as a viscoelastic material, with different responses to deformations, in order to contribute to possibilities for improvements in dough analysis and development of novel products. 3. Modelling of Inelastic Effects in Metal Sheets and Identification of Material Parameters
Sammanfattning : The continuum modelling of the macroscopic behaviour of metallic sheets and the identification of corresponding material parameters for models selected are dealt with in the thesis. Thermodynamics with internal variables provides a framework for the derivation of the models. LÄS MER
4. Mechanical properties of flax fibers and their composites
Sammanfattning : Flax fibers, along with a number of other natural fibers, are being considered as an environmentally friendly alternative of synthetic fibers in fiber-reinforced polymer composites. A common feature of natural fibers is a much higher variability of mechanical properties. LÄS MER
5. Mechanical behaviour of a roller bearing steel : Strength differential effect, low temperature creep and propagation of short cracks
Sammanfattning : Fatigue cracks in bearings either initiate from the surface or from an inclusion below the rolling contact surface. Then, short cracks start to propagate. Short crack grow at considerably faster rates than long cracks subjected to a nominally equivalent stress intensity factor range. LÄS MER
