  1. 1. Immune regulation of herpes simplex virus type 2 infection: Special emphasis on the transcription factor T-bet

    Författare :Alexandra Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HSV-2; T-bet; Substance P; Neurokinin 1; IFN-alfa beta signaling; Polymorphisms;

    Sammanfattning : Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is a sexually transmitted pathogen that infects the genital tract mucosa as well as local sensory neurons. It is the most common cause of genital ulcer disease in humans. The infection gives rise to a wide range of symptoms, ranging from severe and painful recurrent episodes of genital herpes to silent infection. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Th1, Th2 and Treg associated factors in relation to allergy

    Författare :Camilla Janefjord; Maria Jenmalm; Karin Fälth-Magnusson; Örjan Strannegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrik; allergologi; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Immune responses are often divided into T helper 1 (Th1), Th2 and Treg like immunity. Allergy is associated with Th2 like responses to allergens and possibly to reduced regulatory functions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interdisciplinary characterization of T cell dynamics in HIV infection

    Författare :Marcus Buggert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : HIV has caused one of the most devastating pandemics in modern medicine. HIV infects and kills on of the central players in effector immunity, CD4+ T cells, that provide helper mechanisms to all arms of the immune system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Single cell studies of human T cell function with applications for HIV-1

    Författare :Johanna Tauriainen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : T cells are one of the body’s main defenses against viruses and cancers and are therefore considered to play a major role in immunotherapies after stem cell transplantation and in HIV-1 vaccine and cure strategies. However, malignancies and chronic viral infections, such as HIV-1, eventually cause the T cells to become dysfunctional, resulting in a loss of control. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies of immunological risk factors in type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Jenny Walldén (Fredriksson); Outi Vaarala; Johnny Ludvigsson; Vivianne Malmström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic, autoimmune disease caused by a T cell mediated destruction of ß-cells in pancreas. The development of T1D is determined by a combination of genetic susceptibility genes and environmental factors involved in the pathogenesis of T1D. LÄS MER
