  1. 11. Distributed Optimization and Control : Primal--Dual, Online, and Event-Triggered Algorithms

    Författare :Xinlei Yi; Karl H. Johansson; Dimos V. Dimarogonas; John S. Baras; Antonis Papachristodoulou; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distributed nonconvex optimization; distributed online convex optimization; distributed event-triggered control; primal-dual algorithm; stochastic gradient descent; zeroth-order algorithm; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In distributed optimization and control, each network node performs local computation based on its own information and information received from its neighbors through a communication network to achieve a global objective. Although many distributed optimization and control algorithms have been proposed, core theoretical problems with important practical relevance remain. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Optimal Control of Electric Bus Lines

    Författare :Rémi Lacombe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Eco-driving; Electric buses; Bus bunching; Nonlinear programming; Optimal control; Model predictive control;

    Sammanfattning : Bus lines are inherently unstable systems, where any delay tends to be further amplified by the accrued passenger loads encountered at stops downstream. This self-reinforcing mechanism, when combined with the multiple sources of disturbances of an urban environment, can lead to the problem of bus bunching. LÄS MER

  3. 13. A General Formalism for Continuous Feedback Control in Quantum Systems

    Författare :Björn Annby-Andersson; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; quantum measurements; quantum control; stochastic thermodynamics; information thermodynamics; full count- ing statistics; open quantum systems; Quantum measurements; Quantum control; Stochastic thermodynamics; Information thermodynamics; Full counting statistics; Open quantum systems;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis devolops a general formalism for continuous feedback control in quantum systems. The main result is a quantum Fokker-Planck master equation describing the joint dynamics of a quantum system and a detector with finite bandwidth. For a fast detector, this equation can be reduced to a Markovian master equation for the system dynamics. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Stochastic Invariance and Aperiodic Control for Uncertain Constrained Systems

    Författare :Yulong Gao; Karl H. Johansson; Alessandro Abate; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; controlled invariant set; stochastic system; constraint; uncertainty; reachable set; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Uncertainties and constraints are present in most control systems. For example, robot motion planning and building climate regulation can be modeled as uncertain constrained systems. In this thesis, we develop mathematical and computational tools to analyze and synthesize controllers for such systems. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Source-channel coding for closed-loop control

    Författare :Lei Bao; Mikael Skoglund; Karl Henrik Johansson; Fredrik Gunnarssson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optimal control; joint source--channel coding; source-channel coding; joint coding and control; certainty equivalence; linear quadratic control; stochastic control; wireless sensor network; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : Networked embedded control systems are present almost everywhere. A recent trend is to introduce wireless sensor networks in these systems, to take advantage of the added mobility and flexibility offered by wireless solutions. In such networks, the sensor observations are typically quantized and transmitted over noisy links. LÄS MER
