21. Mechanistic Insights into Transition Metal Oxide Catalyzed Water Oxidation
Sammanfattning : A binuclear mechanism was proposed and evaluated by means of Density Functional Theory calculations. The central reaction steps were found to be the oxidation of the transition metal TM-OH moieties to TM=O and the subsequent intramolecular O-O bond formation between two TM=O groups. LÄS MER
22. Energy Storage Materials: Insights From ab Initio Theory : Diffusion, Structure, Thermodynamics and Design
Sammanfattning : The development of science and technology have provided a lifestyle completely dependent on energy consumption. Devices such as computers and mobile phones are good examples of how our daily life depends on electric energy. LÄS MER
23. Nitrous Oxide Formation over Zeolite-based Catalysts during Ammonia-SCR: The Effect of Framework Structure, Acidity, and Copper Content
Sammanfattning : The emission control of anthropogenic nitrous oxide (N2O), a by-product formed through fossil- and renewable fuel combustion, agricultural activities, and industrial chemical processes, has attracted large considerations due to its substantial contribution in global warming and ozone layer depletion. Selective catalytic reduction with ammonia (NH3-SCR) is the most prevailing technology for the abatement of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gases from lean-burn processes, with the possible formation of N2O. 24. Electrocatalytic properties of Ni hydroxides with Zn or Co in the Ni matrix
Sammanfattning : The majority of the work in this thesis has been made with the improvement of the systems for electrochemical co-generation of chemicals and electricity in mind. This is an appealing but challenging way of producing chemicals with energy as a bi-product, and is commonly referred to as “green chemistry”. LÄS MER
25. Magnetic properties of magnetosomal greigite and factors influencing its occurrence and preservation in Baltic Sea Littorina sediments
Sammanfattning : The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s largest brackish water environments and is today suffering from, for example, eutrophication, spreading hypoxia, accumulations of contaminants and invasive organisms. These problems exist due to a combination of natural features that makes the Baltic Sea a sensitive ecosystem (such as long water residence time, limited water exchange, large catchment area), and anthropogenic pressures on land, (such as agriculture and land-use changes, large human populations and industries) and in the sea (such as transport, fishing and bottom-trawling).
