  1. 1. Total knee arthroplasty : aspects on improved fixation in the younger patient

    Författare :Anders Henricson; Kjell G Nilsson; Tore Dalén; Sören Toksvig-Larsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Surgery; Total knee arthroplasty; total knee replacement; mobile bearing; trabecular metal; hydroxy-apatite coating; Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : The results of total knee arthroplasty are inferior in younger patients. The challenge today is therefore to develop designs and concepts that will last at least 25 years. This thesis has evaluated the fixation to bone of modern designs of knee prostheses uring RSA analysis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Total knee arthroplasty : Alternative aspects on fixation, design and postoperative treatment

    Författare :Gunnar Adalberth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Total knee arthroplasty; RSA; migration; all-polyethylene; drainage; cement; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Total knee arthroplasty as a treatment of severe gonarthrosis has become a great success, but tibial component loosening is still a major reason for failure. When total knee arthroplasty was introduced, only all-polyethylene (AP) tibial components were available. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Local infiltration analgesia in knee arthroplasty

    Författare :Per Essving; Kjell Axelsson; Lars Weidenhielm; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Knee arthroplasty; minimally invasive surgery; ropivacaine; ketorolac; intrathecal morphine; local infiltration analgesia; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is a new technique for postoperative pain management following knee arthroplasty. LIA involves a long-acting local anesthetic (ropivacaine), a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug (ketorolac) and epinephrine infiltrated into the knee joint during surgery and injected postoperatively via a catheter. 4. 4. Kinematics and fixation of total knee arthroplasties : a clinical, radiographic, scintimetric, and roentgen stereophotogrammetric evaluation

    Författare :Kjell G. Nilsson; Johan Kärrholm; Leif Ryd; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Total knee arthroplasty; tibial component; kinematics; micromotion; loosening; scintimetry; roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Aseptic loosening of the tibial component is an important cause of failure after total knee arthroplasty. Bone destruction often claimed to be caused by the cement makes the revision difficult. In order to treat younger patients, uncemented fixation has been introduced, but the etiology to loosening is multifactorial and only partly known. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Swedish Knee Arthroplasty study with special reference to unicompartmental prostheses

    Författare :Stefan Lewold; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Skeleton; rerevision; revision; survival analysis; follow-up; Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty; prognosis; muscle system; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Swedish Knee Arthroplasty study has prospectively registered and followed knee arthroplasties done in Sweden since 1976. Demography, epidemiology and general knee prosthetic biofunction is given for 30,003 primary knee arthro-plasties and their revisions through 1992. LÄS MER
