  1. 1. CD1d restricted NKT cells in regulation of pathogenic autoimmunity

    Författare :Anna Teige; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autoimmunity; NKT cells; CD1d antigen presentation; Multiple sclerosis; Rheumatoid arthritis;

    Sammanfattning : Human autoimmune diseases such as reumatoid arthritis (RA) and multiple sclerosis (MS) are believed to develop when self-tolerance mechanisms are failing, with a chronic destructive inflammation as result. To experimentally study autoimmunity, we have used murine models that mimic their human counterparts; experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) – a model for MS, and collagen induced arthritis (CIA) and antigen induced arthritis (AIA) – models for RA. 2. 2. Natural killer T (NKT) lymphocytes regulate of intestinal tumor immunity

    Författare :Ying Wang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NKT lymphocyte; intestinal tumor; CD1d; colrectal cancer; immunoregulation; α-gagactosylceramide;

    Sammanfattning : CD1d-restricted natural killer T (NKT) lymphocytes are known as potent early regulatory cells of immune responses, acting as a bridge between innate and adaptive immunity. While invariant NKT (iNKT) cells have a protective role in many tumor models, their ability to promote intestinal inflammation, known to enhance intestinal cancer, raised the question if they would be protective in intestinal tumor development. 3. 3. Molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diabetes

    Författare :Nádia Duarte; Dan Holmberg; David Serreze; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; type 1 diabetes; NOD mouse; susceptibility loci; Idd6; Lrmp; gene; NKT; CD1d; TCR; mast cells; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder determined both by genetic and environmental factors. The Non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse is one of the best animal models of this disease. It spontaneously develops diabetes through a process resembling the human pathogenesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immuno-modulatory functions of CD1d-restricted natural killer T cells

    Författare :Emma Berntman; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; microarray; gene expression signature; infection; Salmonella; CD1d; NKT cells;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on a small population of non-conventional T lymphocytes, called natural killer T (NKT) cells. NKT cells have many unique features; such as recognition of glycolipids presented by CD1d, expression of NK receptors and rapid production of large amounts of cytokines, such as IL-4 and IFN-gamma,?upon activation. 5. 5. Diversity of CD1d-restricted natural killer T cells

    Författare :Markus Sköld; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; autoreactive; Ly49 receptor; CD1d; NKT cell; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present study deals with natural killer (NK) T cells restricted to the antigen presenting molecule CD1d. NKT cells have been suggested to play a role in many diverse immunological situations such as clearance of different pathogens, protection against certain tumors, regulation of autoimmune reactions and as a link between innate and adaptive immune responses.
