  1. 16. Modeling and investigations of high-grade glioma to understand tumorigenesis and heterogeneity

    Författare :Nagaprathyusha Maturi; Lene Uhrbom; Helena Carén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioblastoma; diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma; cell of origin; heterogeneity; serum culture; glioblastoma stem cell; chromatin accessibility; cross-species conservation; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common primary malignant brain tumor. As per 2021 WHO classification, the corresponding diagnosis in children is called diffuse pediatric-type high-grade glioma (pHGG). In both cases tumors are histone 3 (H3) and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1/2 (IDH1/2) wildtype (wt). LÄS MER

  2. 17. The Impact of Pancreatic Islet Vascular Heterogeneity on Beta Cell Function and Disease

    Författare :Sara Ullsten; Per-Ola Carlsson; Joey Lau; Sara Bohman; Rebecca L. Hull; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pancreatic islets; heterogeneity; islet vascularity; blood flow; islet transplantation; islet amyloid; insulitis; type 1 diabetes; beta cell proliferation; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes Mellitus is a group of complex and heterogeneous metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia. Even though the condition has been extensively studied, its causes and complex pathologies are still not fully understood. The occurring damage to the pancreatic islets is strikingly heterogeneous. 3. 18. Breast cancer : Multifocality, heterogeneity, and related genetic signatures

    Författare :Gyula Pekar; Dumanski Jan; Sapino Anna; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :breast; breast cancer multifocality; molecular phenotypes; intertumoral heterogeneity; biobanking; gene copy number aberrations;

    Sammanfattning : Breast carcinoma often exhibits a complex subgross morphology and may occupy a large volume of the breast tissue and show unifocal, multifocal or diffuse growth patterns. Expression of estrogen- and progesterone receptors, HER2 overexpression, tumor grade, and proliferative activity allows us to classify breast carcinoma into molecular subgroups (Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-type, triple negative, and basal-like). 4. 19. Impact of Diagenetic Alterations on Reservoir Quality and Heterogeneity of Paralic and Shallow Marine Sandstones : Links to Depositional Facies and Sequence Stratigraphy

    Författare :Khalid Al-Ramadan; Sadoon Morad; Luiz Fernando De Ros; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Bedrock geology; Siliciclastic; Diagenesis; Sequence stratigraphy; Paralic and shallow marine; Heterogeneity; Reservoir quality; Berggrundsgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis constrains the distribution of diagenetic alterations and their impact on reservoir-quality and heterogeneity evolution pathways in relation to depositional environments and sequence stratigraphy (systems tracts and key sequence stratigraphic surfaces) of four selected paralic and shallow marine siliciclastic successions. Typical eogenetic alterations encountered include the dissolution and kaolinitization of framework silicates, which are closely associated to shoreface facies of forced regressive systems tract (FRWST), lowstand systems tract (LST), upper part of the highstand systems tract (HST), and below the sequence boundary (SB). 5. 20. On large scale real time music distribution : security, reliability and heterogeneity

    Författare :Roland Parviainen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distribuerade datorsystem; Mobile and Pervasive Computing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a system for real-time large scale distributed music distribution, such as radio on the Internet. The existing technologies do not enable the full potential that broadcast media on the Internet can give, such as a very large number of interactive receivers. LÄS MER
