  1. 1. Divergence, selection, demographic history and conservation genomics of sibling bird species in boreal forest in Northern Eurasia and the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

    Författare :Kai Song; Jacob Höglund; Yue Hua Sun; Peter Halvarsson; Juha Merilä; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sichuan Jay; Siberian Jay; Chinese Grouse; Hazel Grouse; genomics; demographic history; ROH; genetic load;

    Sammanfattning : I used two pairs of sibling boreal forest bird species to study divergence, selection, demographics, and conservation in northern Eurasia and the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau at the microsatellite level (chapter 1) and whole genome level (chapters 2, 3, 4 and 5). In chapter 1, which is the first study to describe genetic diversity of the Sichuan Jay, I used microsatellite markers to estimate genetic differentiation in Sichuan Jay and Siberian Jay populations. 2. 2. Impact of Geographical and Environmental Structures on Habitat Choice, Metapopulation Dynamics and Genetic Structure for Hazel Grouse (Bonasa bonasia)

    Författare :Jonas Sahlsten; Jacob Höglund; Eric Rapaport; Markku Pyykönen; Jon Swenson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ecology; Landscape; Patch occupancy model; Perimeter-area ratio; Geneland; Dispersal; Neighbourhood size; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this work suitable habitats for hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) were identified using ecological niche factor analysis (ENFA). The results from ENFA reveal that hazel grouse utilize a different and more restricted niche than what is generally available in the study area. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Strengthening conservation through green infrastructure : linking protected areas, habitats and species

    Författare :Ewa Orlikowska; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The green infrastructure (GI) concept was developed to mitigate habitat fragmentation. The European Union (EU) defines GI as “a strategically planned network of natural and semi-natural areas …designed and managed to deliver a wide range of ecosystem services and to improve connectivity of protected areas in order to promote multifunctional landscapes”.
