11. Occupational exposure to chemicals and cancer
Sammanfattning : We spend a lot of our time at work and the exposures in our work environment have a great influence on our health. Certain occupational groups, like firefighters, are exposed to a large number of chemicals and an increased risk of cancer has been reported in this group. LÄS MER
12. Optimization Based Decision Support Tools for Fire and Rescue Resource Planning
Sammanfattning : When accidents occur, it is essential that fire and rescue service respond quickly and efficiently to the accident site to reduce suffering and save lives and property. Planning and coordinating of fire and rescue resources is therefore important in order to maintain a safe society. LÄS MER
13. Efficient Algorithms for Graph-Theoretic and Geometric Problems
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies several different algorithmic problems in graph theory and in geometry. The applications of the problems studied range from circuit design optimization to fast matrix multiplication. First, we study a graph-theoretical model of the so called ''firefighter problem''. 14. Dual dispatch and the importance of bystander CPR in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Sammanfattning : Background and aim: Survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) remains low. In Sweden in 2016, of 5312 cases reported to the Swedish Register of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (SRCR), only 577 (11%) survived to 30-days. LÄS MER
15. Polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans : from source of emission to human exposure
Sammanfattning : Brominated flame retardants (BFRs), which are ubiquitous in modern life and the environment, are the major source for polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PBDD/Fs). The knowledge about PBDD/Fs is lim-ited compared to other environmental pollutants, even though PBDD/Fs show similar toxicity as polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PCDD/Fs) which are considered to be among the most toxic man-made substances.
