  3. 3. Population genetic patterns in continuous environments in relation to conservation management

    Författare :Lovisa Wennerström; Linda Laikre; Nils Ryman; Philip McGinnity; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alces alces; Esox lucius; Multiple species; Baltic Sea; Conservation genetics; Microsatellites; Approximate Bayesian Computation; populationsgenetik; Population Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic variation is a prerequisite for the viability and evolution of species. Information on population genetic patterns on spatial and temporal scales is therefore important for effective management and for protection of biodiversity. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic variation in a large game species, the moose (Alces alces) : patterns of differentiation and some management implications

    Författare :Christina Reuterwall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Management of wildlife populations frequently involves selective harvesting, resulting in different death rates for different sexes and age groups. Such selectivity always has specific effects on the population breeding structure and can thereby affect the rate and magnitude of genetic changes with consequences on the genetic composition of the population. 5. 5. Temporal and spatial variation of radiocaesium in moose (Alces alces) following the Chernobyl fallout in Sweden : analyses of data from long-term monitoring in two specific areas

    Författare :Robert Weimer; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In my thesis, I have analysed long-term monitoring data of ¹³⁷Cs activity concentrations in moose (Alces alces) from the two Swedish municipalities Heby and Gävle. These study areas are adjacent and dominated by managed coniferous forests. The percentage of farmland in Heby is 20% but only 4% in the Gävle area. LÄS MER
