  1. 6. Nutritional status, body composition and physical activity among older people living in residential care facilities

    Författare :Maine Carlsson; Yngve Gustafson; Frode Slinde; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nutritional status; constipation; BW loss; UTI; body composition; exercise; muscle mass; functional balance; Nutrition; Näringslära; näringslära; Nutrition;

    Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis was to study, whether drinkable yoghurt enriched with probiotic bacteria could have any effect on constipation and body weight (BW) among older people with dementia. Further, it concerns poor nutritional status among older people with physical and cognitive impairments and its relationship with factors commonly occur in older people living in residential care facilities. Sammanfattning : Background: Stroke is the third-leading cause of disability worldwide, and there are rehabilitation needs not only in the first year but throughout the lifetime. The ability to walk is crucial in everyday life since it affects mobility, self-care, and social activities. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The normal and ACL deficient knee : an in vivo three dimensional kinematic and electromyographic analysis

    Författare :Dan K Ramsey; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Knee; Tibia; Femur; Tibiofemoral contact points; Tibiofemoral kinematics; Anterior cruciate ligament; ACL injury; Knee brace; Knee instability; Bone pin; Magnetic resonance imaging; NM; Neuromuscular adaptation; Electromyography.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the in-vivo 3D kinematics of the normal and ACL deficient knee. Baseline data from normal controls were compared against the pathological knee to assess whether generic functional knee braces reduced abnormal displacements. Moreover, 3D bony contact movements were derived from MRI data. LÄS MER
