  1. 11. Long-term follow-up of adult women with urinary tract infection in childhood

    Författare :Carin Gebäck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ambulatory blood pressure; blood pressure; chronic kidney disease; DMSA scan; glomerular filtration rate; hypertension; pregnancy; renal damage; renal function; urinary tract infection; vesicoureteral reflux;

    Sammanfattning : Acute pyelonephritis is common in young children and can lead to permanent renal damage. Renal damage increases the risk of complications such as hypertension and decreased renal function later in life. For women with renal damage there is also an increased risk of pregnancy complications. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Febrile Urinary Tract Infection: P fimbriae, Innate Host Response and Bacteremia

    Författare :Gisela Otto; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; prsGJ96; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; papGIA2; antibiotic therapy; urine; chemokine; interleukin-6; host response; P fimbriae; bacteremia; febrile urinary tract infection; Escherichia coli;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary tract infections (UTI) are among the most common human infections, and febrile UTI with bacteremia the most severe form. The relation between bacteria and host decides disease severity. The dominating uropathogen is Escherichia coli (E. coli). LÄS MER

  3. 13. Role of Neutrophils and Innate Immune Mechanisms in Urinary Tract Infections

    Författare :Björn Frendéus; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []

    Sammanfattning : Urinary tract infections (UTI) are among the most common infections in man. Despite their prevalence, information on the molecular mechanisms defects that explain the increased susceptibility to disease are lacking. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Ultrasonography of the urinary tract in children, with special emphasis on the urinary bladder

    Författare :Lennart Müller; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :child; ultrasonography; bladder; detrusor; myelomeningocele; urinary tract infection; permanent renal damage;

    Sammanfattning : Ultrasonography (US) is routinely used in children with urinary tract disorders. However, the bladder is usually evaluated with invasive methods, e.g. voiding cystourethrography (VCU) and cystometry. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Urinary tract infection in small children: aspects of bacteriology, vesicoureteral reflux and renal damage

    Författare :Svante Swerkersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Children; Urinary tract infection; Vesicoureteral reflux; Renal damage; Bacterial count; Recurrence; Antibiotic resistance; Urine sampling;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a prevalent bacterial infection in children. The diagnosis is based on growth of bacteria in urine specimen and treatment is chosen out of knowledge of the present antimicrobial resistance situation. Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is a well-known risk factor for UTI in children. LÄS MER
